Job Summary
The Department of Political Science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications
for a 1-year, non-tenure track Lecturer position in Political Behavior beginning in September 2026.
Essential
Functions
The Lecturer will have the opportunity to further their own research agenda and to collaborate with the faculty in
the Department of Political Science on ongoing and new research projects related to political behavior, public opinion, political
psychology, gender and politics, methodology, and race and ethnic politics.
This position will also serve as a core contributor to
the UMass Poll with responsibility for mentoring, teaching, and directing undergraduate research fellows and assisting with survey design,
analysis, and media outreach.
The Lecturer will also be responsible for teaching three courses each academic year in the Department
of Political Science and will be supervised by Tatishe Nteta, Provost Professor of Political Science and Director of the UMass Poll.
Minimum Qualifications
A Ph.D. in political science or a related discipline by the time of appointment is
required.
Experience in conducting survey research, with a background in using survey and statistical software.
A record of
research and teaching in American Politics, Methodology, Political Psychology, Gender and Politics, Race and Ethnic Politics, or State and
Local Politics is required.

Arrangement
This position will start on Sep. 1, 2026, and will be for one year. The potential for another one-year
reappointment is contingent upon funding availability and satisfactory performance
Salary Information
It is
expected that the salary range for this position is between $65,550 and $87,309. The specific pay for this position will be determined by
the University based on consideration of all relevant factors when and if it decides to extend an offer of employment.
Please note:
(1) The low-end of the pay range in all faculty searches at the University of Massachusetts Amherst is the minimum salary for the
rank included in the collective bargaining agreement between the University and the Massachusetts Society of Professors, UMass
Amherst/MTA/NEA.
(2) The high-end of the pay range reflects an increase above the median salaries at this rank within the department
for faculty who may have multiple years of faculty experience.
