As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent
many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University Plymouth is seeking qualified applicants for a Full Time Non-Tenure Track faculty
member to teach introductory courses in history and political science at our Plymouth, Indiana location This position reports to the
Academic Dean at Marian University-Plymouth regarding day-to-day operations and collaborates with faculty at Marian University –
Indianapolis for curricular development and discipline collaboration
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and
honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service,
integrating faith and life, and institutional policies. - Teaching load: 24 credits per academic year and consistent office hours for
student engagement and academic advising. - Actively participate in curriculum implementation and activities of the Department of
History and Social Sciences (and to partner with the MU campus humanities department in curriculum development, collaboration and
research/program support). - Engage in scholarship and other professional development activities as required per MUAC and MU
campuses. - Serve as an academic advisor for students and oversee, internships, mentorships, and service-learning opportunities for
students in collaboration with the larger community. - Participate in the life of the campus and university service, including
participation in faculty governance and co-curricular programs. - Take part in special project work, academic and student retention
committee work and leadership and/or student club advising/mentorship. - Assist and activity engage with retention and recruitment
efforts for the program (and the college) in partnership with admissions team and student success and engagement team. - Partner with
student support services for tutoring needs, supplemental instructional development and assists students with review, study guides, and
academic support outside of the classroom. - Other duties as assigned by Academic Dean and Vice President.
University Expectations:
- Knowledge of and a commitment to the mission of Marian University
- A Masters
degree in history, political science, or related field is required; however, an earned doctorate, is ` strongly preferred. - Adheres
to Marian University’s policies and procedures - Shows courtesy and respect in interactions with fellow employees, students
subordinates, and supervisors - Experience working with students at varying levels of abilities, is required.
- Evidence of
capacity for effective teaching in higher education. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with
online education is strongly desired - Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, collaborative, and able to work independently with
colleagues throughout the university and in the community. - Demonstrated commitment to multicultural competence, best practices in
teaching, high ethical standards, diversity, and community service/engagement. - Experience with online education is strongly
desired.
