Public Film Screening: Inshallah a Boy

Amjad Al-Rasheed’s “Inshallah a Boy” is a gripping, feminist drama that follows Nawal, who is forced to contend with Jordan’s unequal inheritance laws following the sudden death of her husband in order to hold onto her family and claim what should rightfully be hers. The result is a suspenseful and engrossing portrait of resistance and strength that showcases women’s ingenuity and perseverance. “Inshallah a Boy” was the first-ever Jordanian feature film to premiere at Cannes and has received numerous awards.
Ahead of International Women’s Day, the Baker Institute Women’s Rights, Human Rights, and Refugees Program will co-host a public screening of the film in collaboration with the Museum of Fine Arts Houston’s film department.
This event is free and open to the public.
