Position Details
The Department of
Political Science and International Studies at the University of Tampa invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position. The
contract begins Fall 2026 for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Teaching sections in at
least one of the following: Introduction to American Politics, Introduction to Comparative Politics, or Introduction to International
Relations.
2. The candidate should also be comfortable teaching multiple sections of our special topics general education course for
non-majors called “Politics and Society.” These courses can fall into any subfield and would reflect the candidate’s expertise and
interests. A major component of the “Politics and Society” classes will be teaching students how to write in the Political Science
discipline. The course load for the position is 4/4. There is no research expectation and service requirements are minimal.

Preparing course syllabi and other course-related materials.
4. Providing meeting times for students.
5. Completing course
grading and submitting final grades online.
The successful candidate will have:
1. Commitment to teaching students in a
liberal arts setting.
2. Ph.D. preferred, though candidates very near to completion of the Ph.D. will be
considered.
