Position Summary:


The School of Politics, Society, Justice and Public Service (the School) at Central Michigan University invites applications for a full-time fixed-term faculty position, with a primary focus on managing and engaging students in the Schools undergraduate online programs in Political Science, International Relations, and Public & Nonprofit Administration. The responsibilities of this position also include teaching at least four online courses during the academic year in the Political Science, International Relations, or Public & Nonprofit Administration programs (depending on the applicants area of expertise). This position will work under the supervision of the Schools Chairperson and also closely collaborate with the Universitys online advisors and support staff. This position begins on August 24, 2026, and is a two-year appointment with the possibility of renewal, pending performance and the Schools needs.

The administrative duties of this position include: participating in the Universitys online orientation events for new students, welcoming and mentoring online students each semester, reviewing existing course shells, hosting and promoting virtual events, promoting students online success, and serving as the primary liaison between online students and the School.


Our goal is to strengthen and expand the Schools online programs by appointing a dedicated individual to support and engage the Schools online students in Political Science, International Relations, and Public & Nonprofit Administration. Additionally, we want this position to contribute as a liaison between the department and CMU Online on the curricular and quality assurance side.

This position is open to remote work from within the United States; however, priority consideration will be given to candidates located in Michigan.


Required Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Political Science/International Relations or Public/Nonprofit Administration, or closely related field.
  • Two years of online teaching experience at the university level.
  • Demonstrated leadership and collaboration in online programs.
  • Experience engaging online learners from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Effective oral/written communication skills.
  • Expertise in online pedagogy with proficiency in the use of online instructional technologies.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Ph.D. in Political Science/International Relations or Public/Nonprofit Administration, or closely related field.
