Job Summary:


The Department of Political Science at West Texas A&M University
invites applications for an on-campus, tenure-track Assistant Professor position, beginning in Fall 2026. Candidates must have a Ph.D. or
doctorate in either Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Science with a concentration in Public Administration, or in a field
closely related to public administration; ABDs will be considered. The successful applicant will teach courses in the Master of Public
Administration program and introductory courses in American and/or state and local government. Teaching experience in both face-to-face and
online formats is preferred. Review of applications will begin immediately.


Work Performed:

  • The teaching load is 3/3
    for the fall and spring semesters
  • The successful candidate will teach in the Master of Public Administration program, which is 100
    percent online.
  • The successful candidate will teach introductory courses in American and/or state and local government.
  • The
    successful candidate will maintain an active research agenda and engage in scholarship that contributes to their progress toward
    tenure.
  • The successful candidate will work with colleagues and administration to advance the mission of the Terry B. Rogers College
    of Education and Social Sciences.

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have a Ph.D. or doctorate in either
    Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Science with a concentration in Public Administration, or in a field closely related to
    public administration; ABDs will be considered.
  • Ability to teach core courses in the MPA program as well as other courses in the
    program.
  • Ability to teach American National Government and/or American State and Local Government.
  • Excellent oral and
    written communication skills.
  • Ability to engage in scholarship that will contribute toward tenure
  • Desire to excel in
    teaching both online and face-to-face.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Teaching experience in both online and face-to-face
    formats
  • Record of research productivity

Due to budgetary reasons, West Texas A&M University will not offer H-1B or other
