SUMMARY:Putting the Iranian nuclear program in a broader context
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a panel discussion on Iran’s nuclear program.\n\n\nIran’s nuclear ambitions have been the focus of international diplomacy for several decades. Faced with accusations of nuclear weapons pursuits and subject to far-reaching sanctions\, Iran concluded the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action in 2015 to restrict its nuclear pursuits. The United States’ decision to withdraw from the agreement in 2018 and subsequent allegations of Iranian violations of its international commitments cast doubt on the deal’s future. All this came to a head when Israel and the United States conducted extensive air attacks against Iran’s nuclear facilities and missile capabilities in June 2025. While the strikes significantly disrupted Iran’s nuclear program and its potential weaponization\, it did not eliminate it. This panel will shed light on Iran’s past\, present\, and future nuclear ambitions\, how Iran’s nuclear program is perceived within the region\, what efforts have been taken and will likely be taken to curb Iran’s nuclear program\, and how these actions have shaped the nuclear non-proliferation regime.

SUMMARY:Baker Briefing Live: Reforming Global Aid in a Post-USAID Era
DESCRIPTION:This live edition of “Baker Briefing” will examine the existential questions facing the future of global aid and opportunities for reform.\n\n\nThe international humanitarian community faced growing calls for reform even before the Trump administration dismantled the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in early 2025 and cut nearly $8 billion in funding to the global aid sector. Now\, it will need to move quickly and strategically to survive funding cuts from major donor countries like the U.S. and continue to respond to humanitarian emergencies around the world. \nIn this live recording of the “Baker Briefing” podcast\, Ambassador David M. Satterfield\, director of the Baker Institute\, sits down with Sonali Korde\, MD Anderson Visiting Fellow and former head of USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance\, to examine the existential questions facing the future of global aid and how the humanitarian system can rise to meet the moment. \nThis event is free and open to the public. \nFollow @BakerInstitute on X and join the conversation online with #BakerBriefing.
