DESCRIPTION:A leadership development intensive program you women pursing a career in public service.\n\n\nThe Girls in Politics Initiative Summer Intensive 2026\, Washington DC takes place in the heart of the nation’s capital. This summer intensive includes a series of lectures on domestic government\, foreign policy\, diplomacy\, advocacy\, community organizing\, modern political campaigning and leadership development workshops. Students will also explore the nation’s capital visiting monuments\, museums and spending a day on Capitol Hill. \n \nItinerary Day 1 | The United States Government \nMonday | July 6\, 2026 \nArrival 8:30am \nOrientation \nUnited States National Archives \nSmithsonian Museum of American History \nLecture: United States Government and American Political Theory \nDismissal 5pm \n \nItinerary Day 2 | A Career in Public Service \nTuesday | July 7\, 2026 \nArrival 9am \nLecture: Exploring Careers in Public Service and guest speaker \nWorkshop: Career Planning\, Resume Building and Professional Networking \nActivity: Students will design a business card; cards will be shipped directly from printer to students’s home address \nWorkshop: Public Speaking 101 \nUnited States Treasury Bureau of Engraving and Printing Tour \nDismissal 5:30pm \n \nItinerary Day 3 | A Day on Capitol Hill \nWednesday | July 8\, 2026 \nArrival 8:15am (United States Capitol) \nUnited States Capitol Tour and Specialty Tour \nMeet with Legislators and legislative staff \nVisit United States House and United States Senate Galleries \nSupreme Court and Supreme Court lecture \nLibrary of Congress \nDismissal 4:45pm \n \nItinerary Day 4 | Activism in the 21st Century \nThursday | July 9\, 2026 \nArrival 9am \nLecture: Advocacy 101 \nLecture: Community Organizing in the Digital Age and guest speaker \nLecture: Political Campaigns for Candidates and Issue Campaigns \nLecture: Fundraising Fundamentals and Event Organizing \nDismissal 5pm \n \nItinerary Day 5 | Capstone Project: Leading Her Way \nFriday | July 10\, 2026 \nArrival 9am \nWorkshop: Each student will develop an issue campaign or community service project based on her personal interests. Students will present their capstone projects in class. \nSocial Outing: Afternoon at The Wharf \nDismissal 5pm \n \nAge and Program Capacity \nThis program recommended for girls ages 12 to 17. The program capacity is 15 students. \n \nRegistration\, Payment Options and Financial Assistance \nThe registration fee includes all program materials\, camp insurance and four Girls in Politics Initiative shirts. \nPayment in full of tuition at time of registration $1300. \nFinancial assistance is not available for this program. \n \nArrival and Departure \nThis is a day program. Parents are responsible for student’s transportation to and from the program each day. \n \nHotel Recommendations \nFor those traveling to Washington\,DC we recommend any of the Marriott group of IHG group hotels in the National Mall area. \n \nAttire \nParticipants should wear comfortable attire that includes athletic shoes. Each participant will receive four Girls in Politics Initiative shirts to wear during the program. \n \nCancellation Policy \nThe registration fee and deposit are non-refundable. If a participant is unable to attend for any reason\, a voucher for the registration fee paid will be issued.
