In this keynote address\, program director Jane Unrue will discuss the history of Harvard SAR\, reflecting on how the program has evolved and why. She’ll describe how those working to provide refuge to at-risk and persecuted scholars\, artists\, and writers from around the world are responding to new challenges and obstacles on both international and domestic fronts. Unrue will explore what it means to be engaged in the protection of academic freedom and freedom of expression at a time of such rapid and multi-dimensional change. \nThe talk is part of the Russian\, East European\, and Eurasian Studies Northeast Network Faculty and Administrators Workshop “Protecting Vulnerable Scholars and Partnerships” held at the Davis Center on November 7 and November 8.
