DESCRIPTION:In-depth interviews\, roundtable discussions\, and other encounters exploring a constellation of questions.\n\n\nFebruary 22nd – 23rd\, 2025 \n2 FULL-DAY EVENT — IN-PERSON ONLY \n \n\n10am – 6pm\, Saturday\, February 22nd\n9am – 3pm Sunday\, February 23rd\n\n \n*12 CE CREDITS OFFERED* For NYS-licensed clinical psychologists\, social workers\, mental health counselors & licensed psychoanalysts. \n \nPresented by: Group for Independent Formation \nCo-sponsored by: Greene Clinic \n \nIn “Freud and the Political\,” Mladen Dolar rehearses the dual arguments so frequently made about Freud’s relationship to politics: either that there is conceptually no room for politics in psychoanalysis\, or that—insofar as psychoanalysis theorizes the individual as bound up in and formed by the social Other—“politics are universally and ubiquitously present in Freud’s work.” \nHowever\, this binary screens a far more interesting proposition: that psychoanalysis and politics are necessarily in relation to each other; and that this relation is impossible.
