This year is poised to bring significant changes to the war in Ukraine. While deadly battles continue across the front line, there is a sense of political movement. Trump is trying to force Putin into to the table. Putin has expressed a readiness to talk—with the US. Zelensky has impressed Trump with his willingness to negotiate a peace, but there is uneasiness in Kyiv over what the terms might look like. Meanwhile, Ukrainian society is exhausted and ready for peace, though not at any cost.
