Downtown LA: Awesome or Awful? A Conversation Workshop with UR Action & CPF

September 3 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
In this interactive workshop hosted by the USC CPF and Urban Rural Action, participants will learn the ABCs of constructive dialogue.

In this interactive workshop hosted by the USC Center for the Political Future and Urban Rural Action, participants will learn the ABCs of Constructive Conversation and engage in small group discussions exploring diverse perspectives on Downtown LA (DTLA) — its challenges, opportunities, and future.

Is the DTLA community safe and vibrant? Or is it dangerous and on the decline? Some of the most famous restaurants in America are next to some of the most infamous homeless encampments in the nation. What does that juxtaposition say about life in DTLA? Would you want to live in DTLA? Hear from people who currently live in or who moved away from DTLA. You don’t need to agree with the other attendees. In fact it’s better if you don’t. Learn so much about life in Los Angeles while also learning conversation strategies to help your future discussions be more productive and respectful. Promotional partners include the Downtown Los Angeles Residents Association and others TBA.

FREE dinner provided. Open to students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Join us on Tuesday, September 3, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM for an evening of connection and conversation that builds understanding across differences.

This workshop is brought to you by Urban Rural Action, a national grassroots movement that brings Americans together across differences to address our country’s most urgent challenges. Joe Bubman, Executive Director of Urban Rural Action, and Christy Vines, Founding Executive Director at the Fuller Center for Peacebuilding & Conflict Transformation, will lead the workshop.
