Access, International Cooperation, & Public Outreach: Lithuania’s Archives

March 24 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Join us for a talk to explore how Lithuanian archives influence the country today.

Inga Zakšauskienė, serving as chief archivist in Lithuania since April 2023, has sought to turn the Lithuanian archives “from document storage institutions into spaces for the dissemination of freedom ideas and the education of society.” Halfway through her tenure, Zakšauskienė will discuss what she has been able to do in furthering this mission, including how the Lithuanian archives have expanded access, enhanced digitization, strengthened international partnerships, and increased their role in public and civic education about the origins, foundations, and achievements of modern Lithuania.
